12 Family Travel Forum Teen Travel Writing Scholarship 08/01/2010 $200 - $1,000 The rules of the annual FTF Teen Travel Writing Scholarship are simple: Submit your essay telling us and your peers about where you went and what it meant to you, what worked and what didn't work, what you learned from the trip, or how it changed you. Bring other travelers into the world you visited. It can be funny, serious, contemplative, whatever... as well as informative.
12 Career Fitter 09-15-2010 $500 Scholarships for qualified students who are planning to enroll or participate in a college, university or graduate school program during an upcoming spring/summer/fall term. It is recommended that students who apply have a better than 2.4 Grade Point Average.

Explain what he means by this and how events of the story illustrate and dramatize his point. 2. 12 Wendy's High School Heisman 10/03/2010 varies Eligibility for application is limited exclusively to men and women entering their senior year of high school in the 2010-2011 academic year who have at least a "B" grade average and participate in at least one of the 27 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools. We want to hear from all student-athletes who work hard, are dedicated, and have become role models for your school's underclassmen. Students are judged based on their academic achievements, community service involvement, and athletic accomplishments.
12 AES Engineering 10/08/2010 $500 Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated the essays that are submitted. Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.
12 The YoungARTS program 10/22/2010 $100 - $10,000 YoungArts is NFAAâ's core program. It provides recognition and awards to young artists across the country. We are the only organization that encourages and recognizes artistic excellence in the literary, visual and performing arts, including dance, cinematic arts, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice, and writing.. Each year, approximately 6,000-8,000 students register for the YoungArts program and approximately 10 percent receive monetary awards.
12 BBB Essay Scholarship 10/25/2010 $500 - $1,500 The Better Business Bureau of San Diego & Imperial Counties conducts this annual scholarship program in conjunction with the BBB Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics Program. The BBB offers cash scholarships to five students who write the best essays on the importance of ethics.
9, 10, 11, 12 American Legion Oratorical Contest 10/29/2010 up to $18,000 Young orators earn some of the most generous college scholarships available to high school students. Over $138,000 in scholarships can be awarded each year. The overall national contest winner gets an $18,000 scholarship. Second place takes home $16,000, and third gets $14,000. Each department (state) winner who is certified into and participates in the national contestant's first round receives a $1,500 scholarship. Those who advance past the first round receive an additional $1,500 scholarship. The American Legion's National Organization awards the scholarships, which can be used at any college or university in the United States. High school students under age 20 are eligible. Competition begins at the post level and advances to a state competition. Legion department representatives certify one winner per state to the national contest, where department winners compete against each other in two speaking rounds. The contest caps off with a final round that decides the three top finishers. Speaking subjects must be on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution, with some emphasis on the duties and obligations of citizens to our government. Speeches are eight to 10 minutes long; three- to five-minute speeches on an assigned topic also are part of the contest.

Design a poster highlighting job safety and health for teens and you could win a cash prize! Your poster may be in any media ... pen and ink, collage, paint, photography, computer, etc.
12 Fashion Design/Fashion Marketing Scholarship 11/20/2010 $3,000 Deadline All complete entries must be received by Friday, November 20, 2009 at The Art Institutes school at which you plan to enter the Competition and attend following it. A local winner will be selected from each participating school whose design will go on to represent it in the national competition. Local winners will be selected in December 2009; national winners will be announced in January 2010.
12 Colgate Palmolive Scholarship 11/30/2010 1 @ $10,000 15 @ $1,000 THIS MAY BE A ONE TIME OFFER. BUT I'LL KEEP AN EYE OPEN. "Haz La U" is an educational grant program sponsored by Colgate-Palmolive Company to encourage young Latinos to take the right path towards higher education. It focuses on distributing education grants to aspiring Latinos students to help pay for college expenses.
6,7,8,9,10,11,12 NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund Essay Contest 12/01/2010 $100 - $1,000 Eligibility: The contest is open to all students enrolled in an elementary, junior high or high school during the 2009-2010 academic year who have not previously received a prize.
12 Being an American Essay Contest 12/01/2010 $250 - $5,000 Essays may be no longer than 750 words, and must be submitted by a teacher sponsor online by 11:59 pm EST on December 1, 2009. Only online submissions made at http://www.beinganamerican.org/ will be accepted for the Contest. A teacher may submit up to five (5) essays during the Contest Period. Teachers submitting more than five essays during a Contest period will have all his or her essays disqualified for that Contest.
12 Elks Natinal Foundation Most Valuable Student 12/01/2010 $1,000 - $15,000 Applications for the Elks National Foundation's 2011 Most Valuable Student contest will be available on September 1, 2010, online, at your local Elks Lodge, or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Foundation. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.
9, 10, 11, 12 Soroptimist International of Oceanside-Carlsbad Scholarship for the Arts 12/01/2010 $1,000 Available to young women between the ages of 14 - 17 who volunteer in the community or school. There will be an application uploaded and available in the counseling department as soon as we receive a copy.
12 Toyota Community Scholars 12/01/2010 $2,500 - $5,000 Toyota Community Scholars are recognized for their academic excellence, leadership and commitment to community service. Every year, Toyota awards 100 college scholarships – valued at $10,000 and $20,000 – over the course of four years, to remarkable high school seniors. Administered by the Educational Testing Service, high schools nationwide nominate one student per year.
12 Susan Steelman Bragato College Scholarship 12/03/2010 $1,500 The California Charter Schools Association will award five $1,500 scholarships to high school graduates of Association member schools. Scholarship awards will be payable to the recipient upon proof of his/her enrollment into an accredited four-year or two-year public or private university or college.

12 AXA Achievement Scholarship 12/15/2010 Up to $25,000 From the pool of 52 state winners, ten are selected as national winners and earn an additional one-time scholarship of $15,000. This brings the top AXA Achievers total scholarship awards to $25,000 each. These top ten also receive the offer of an internship with AXA. Our scholarships winners are known as AXA Achievers. They are ethnically and economically diverse, but they share these qualities: * Ambition and drive * Determination to set and reach goals * Respect for self, family and community * Ability to succeed in college Some of the remarkable accomplishments of our past AXA Achievers include: setting up a food bank in their community; designing a curriculum to get kids interested in science; founding a nonprofit organization for young people that encourages community service and civic involvement.
12 NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards...Nomination 12/31/2010 $1,000 - $10,000 The NFIB Young Entrepreneur program was established to raise awareness among the nation's youth of the critical role that private enterprise and entrepreneurship play in the building of America. Since 2003, the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation has awarded 2,095 scholarships to graduating high school seniors totaling $2,382,000. 12 Anne Ford Scholarship 12/31/2010 $10,000 A $10,000 award given to two high school senior with an identified learning disability (LD) who will be pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree.
10, 11, 12 National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution 12/31/2010 $500 - $2,000 This contest is open to all students who are United States citizens or legal aliens. Contestants shall be attending public, parochial, or private high schools (including accredited home schools). Contestants shall be in the sophomore, junior or senior grade of study during the contest year. The contest is conducted in three phases: local (Chapter), state (State Society) and National. The contest must be entered through a Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution near the student's residence. In some cases, the contest may be entered at the State level (if the State does not have chapters or the chapters are not participating). Only one entry per student is permitted per contest year. If the State does not participate, then the essay may be submitted to the At Large judge listed on our website. The first place National winner is prohibited from participating in following years' contests. The local date varies by location, so please check the deadline dates with your local contact as listed on the Contact's page.
6,7,8,9,10,11,12 Optimist International Essay Contest 12/31/2010 Medallion - $6,000 International Essay Contest Topic: "The Internet: Today's Evolution or Tomorrow's Menace?" The Essay Contest is for students under 19 years of age as of December 31, 2009, who attend school in the United States, Canada or the Caribbean. Students residing on U.S. military bases overseas are eligible to enter using their last U.S. home of record. All Club contests are held before February 28, 2010. Winners progress to the next level.
9, 10,11,12 Apprentice Ecologist Initiative 12/31/2010 $500 The goals of the Apprentice Ecologist Initiative are to: Elevate youth into leadership roles by engaging them in environmental cleanup and conservation projects, Empower young volunteers to rebuild the environmental and social well-being of our communities, Improve local living conditions for both citizens and wildlife through education, activism, and action.
12 All-Ink Scholarship 12/31/2010 Up to $5,000 Apply Online 1. Click the "Start Application" button below. The application process takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. 2. 12 McDonald's USA National Employee Scholarship Program 01/01/2011 $1,000 Eligibility: The McDonald's National Employee Scholarship Program recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding students in the course of their employment at McDonald's. The following eligibility requirements apply for this program: Must be currently employed at a U.S. McDonald's restaurant and have at least four months continuous employment at the time of application. Must work a minimum of 15 hours per week. Must be a high school senior planning to attend an accredited institution offering post-secondary education and/or career training and instruction or a current or returning student at such an institution. Must be employed by McDonald's or a U.S. McDonald's owner/operator at the time the scholarship awards are announced.
9, 10, 11,12 United Nations Association San Diego Essay Contest 01/05/2011 $1,500 This year's National High School Essay Contest on the United Nations focuses on Millennium Development Goal Eight, and asks students to tackle the challenge of promoting development through international partnership. Students will write a letter to the President of the United States answering the following questions: 1. How can the U.S. build an international system that promotes good governance, development, and poverty reduction? 2. How can the U.S. promote sustainable development and economic growth in developing countries?
12 Kyoto Scholarship 01/08/2011 Up to $10,000 The Kyoto Scholarships provide financial assistance to graduating high school seniors from San Diego County who are attending an accredited four-year university in the United States. A companion scholarship is available to students residing in Tijuana. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and be actively involved in serving their community as demonstrated by their involvement in community/church service, extra-curricular activities, or work experience. Criteria for awarding the Kyoto Scholarship go beyond academic performance and GPA - through these scholarships, the Kyoto Symposium Organization seeks to recognize students who are actively pursuing the betterment of society. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest 01/09/2011 Up to $13,500 Essay Topic Students are asked to write an original and creative essay of less than 1,000 words that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage . Students should use a variety of sources such as newspaper articles, books, and/or personal interviews to address the following topic: Describe and analyze the decisions, actions, and risks of an elected public official in the United States since 1956 who has courageously addressed a political issue at the local, state, national, or international level. All submissions must adhere to contest requirements .
12 Gates Millennium Scholars 01/11/2011 $1,000 - $5,000 he Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in all discipline areas. The program is available to graduating high school seniors. It provides substantial scholarship awards to exceptional high school seniors for study at the college of their choice. Eligible applicants must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, demonstrated leadership skills, and significant financial need.

12 Mensa Education and Research Foundation 01/15/2011 varies COMPETITION INFORMATION Awards are made on the basis of an essay of no more than 550 words that describes the applicant's career, vocational, or academic goals. It is NOT necessary that the applicant be a member of Mensa. The eligibility requirements are that the applicant be enrolled, for the academic year following the award, in a degree program in an accredited U.S. institution of post-secondary education, and that an applicant be residing in the participating local group of American Mensa of application.

Photo, art or graphics submitted must be your own original work/creation. Entries should not exceed 16" x 23" and the preferred format is horizontal.
12 California Association of Educational Office Professionals 01/15/2011 $1,000 TO QUALIFY Applicant must be a graduating high school student who has made application to continue his/her education OR the applicant may currently be pursuing such a course of study in an institution of higher education. Applicant must have maintained a grade point average of 2.0 or better in high school. Applicant must have applied for admission to a post-high school accredited institution and plan to enter following the granting of the scholarship, or already be enrolled in an accredited college or university. Applicant must be a resident of the State of California. Applicant must intend to continue his/her education in the field of business administration or education. Applicant shall be responsible for the completion and return of all required support materials to the CAEOP Scholarship/Awards Chair before the deadline date.
12 Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund 01/18/2011 $2,500 - $5,000 * Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census * Be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the United States. The San Diego Foundation has scholarships to help get you on track and help you stay on track. 12 COX Heroes Scholarships 01/29/2011 $10,000 Cox rewards academic excellence and personal perseverance by granting Cox Heroes scholarships in denominations of $2,500 or $10,000 to San Diego County adults, military dependents and high school seniors who are overcoming personal challenges while pursuing educational advancement. Applications for 2010-2011 scholarships are now being accepted through January 29, 2010.
12 Sam Walton Community Scholarship 01/31/2011 $1,000 Applicants must meet all of the following criteria: * Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States. * Cannot be a Walmart Stores, Inc. Associate; the dependent of a Walmart Stores, Inc. Associate; or the dependent of a Walmart Stores, Inc. Board of Directors member as of March 29, 2010. * Must be a high school senior graduating between August 1, 2009 and July 31, 2010. No matter how well-written and researched, essays submitted on non-science topics are disqualified. * Your essay must be written in English. * Essays should be written using your word processor of choice. * Do not put your name, school name or any other personal information on your essay. Enter your name and other personal information on the Official Entry Form only. * Your essay title must appear in the Entry Form box called "Title of Essay." Do not include the title of your essay in the Essay Box. * Include the word count at the end of your essay. * Attribute all ideas that are not your own and any quotes in the body of the essay. 12 The Amateur Radio Foundation, Inc. 02/01/2011 $500 - $5,000 The ARRL Foundation administers scholarships for post secondary education students holding a valid FCC-granted Amateur Radio license. Scholarship awards range from $500 to $5000 or more and are available to high school seniors (or equivalent) or students currently enrolled in a college or university.

12 California Association of Collectors Scholarships 02/01/2011 1 @ $2,500, $2,000, $1,500 The Education Scholarship Foundation was founded in 2005 by the California Association of Collectors (CAC). The scholarship was started to help high school graduates pursue their education at any accredited public or private college, university or trade school in California.
12 Burger King Scholars Program 02/01/2011 $1,000 Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent. Work part-time an average of 10 hours per week, or 40 weeks per year (unless individual circumstances prevent the student's involvement). Demonstrate participation in community service and/or co-curricular activities. Demonstrate financial need. Plan to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school by the fall term of the graduating year.
