Student Community and Service Information

All students at GPA are required to perform community and service during the year as per the GPA Charter. Please refer to the Student Handbook or Course Catalog for important information about your community and service obligation. The Community and Service Form is also available for tracking your community and service activities. Opportunities to serve your community are listed at the bottom of this page.

Polar Plunge

Be invigorated as never before! Take the Polar Plunge into the Pacific at the Oceanside Pier to benefit Special Olympics Southern California - San Diego County athletes.  It's on Feb 18th, and the Key Club is getting a team together or you could join another team or do it as an individual.

We rely on these dedicated folks to pack boxes, stamp cans, check expiration dates,
assemble boxes, pack food boxes, help with bulk mailings, computer data input, help with special event fundraisers and much more!

Pajama Project

The Pajama Project is turning into Sleep Pants for teenagers for 2012, and it'll be here before you know it.  Work days will be here in February, March & April and September through November...the summer is off!  Please contact Belinda Simonini at designsbyb@roadrunner.com for more information.

Assistance League North Coast

Teen Partners are members of Assistance League North Coast, a chapter of the National Assistance League.  ALNC is dedicated to serving the needs, primariiy of children in the communities of Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista.  Our program runs September through May  We will meet once a month and ask that you commit yourself to attending this monthly meeting where we will participate in at least one community project.  Projects may include:  assisting in our Thrift Shop, assembling Health Kits and Baby Layettes, plus participating in events such as the Relay For Life, benefitting the American Cancer Society.

09/28/2011 Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego The charity provides lodging, food and emotional support for families of critically ill children being treated at hospitals in the greater San Diego regions. They have a fund raising campaign every September with volunteers collecting donations in size-14 red shoes at various spots in San Diego. Here are a few more collection ideas: Text $5 contributions to REDSHOE to 20222, host an event to collect funds for the charity, place a red shoe in your break room, lobby or other high traffic area to collect funds and raise awareness. rmhcsd.org
11/11/2011 Comfort Care Drive Benefiting Veterans Village of San Diego St Paul's Senior Homes and Services is seeking items for a "packing party' to create comfort care packages that will be distributed to 150 homeless veterans over the holidays. Embrace, an organization that utilizes student volunteers to serve the community in the areas of health, hunger and cultural acceptance, will be collecting clothing, blankets and sheets in preparation for its third annual "Embrace the Streets" event on Nov 12th.
