Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI)

No. There are:

• No costs to families
• No co-pays
• No deductibles
• No out-of-pocket expenses

State law prohibits health plans from passing any costs to families for services covered under this program
 

Examples of services that may qualify include:

• Classroom-based social-emotional learning and life skills lessons
• Small group supports focused on coping skills or peer relationships
• Behavioral health screenings or assessments, when appropriate
• Short-term early intervention supports
• Individual counseling provided by licensed school-based clinicians

No. Providing insurance information will not change or reduce your existing insurance benefits.

No. Children, youth, and families will not pay out of pocket expenses and there will not be any impact to their existing insurance plan nor deductible for claims submitted through the CYBHI Fee Schedule Program. 

Reimbursement helps Guajome Schools:

• Sustain school-based wellness initiatives
• Maintain licensed clinicians and wellness staff
• Expand prevention and early intervention programs
• Reduce reliance on limited general education funds

Parents and guardians are notified through the annual registration process and through the Student/Parent Handbooks. 

There are MANY services our counselors and wellness staff provide as a part of their work (beyond providing one-on-one or small group counseling) that we may seek reimbursement for. Those activities may include:

• Whole Class Lessons: Social-emotional learning (SEL), coping skills, mindfulness, conflict resolution, digital citizenship.
• Schoolwide Presentations: Assemblies or workshops on bullying prevention, kindness campaigns, stress management.
• Brief Student Check-ins: One-time or occasional supportive conversations with students (non-therapeutic, problem-solving in nature).
• Drop-in Support: Responding to a student request to talk (not ongoing counseling).
• Crisis Triage/Immediate Response: Assessing a student in the moment (e.g., anxiety, grief reaction, peer conflict).
• Restorative Circles or Conflict Resolution: Facilitating peer conflict resolution or reintegration after suspension.
• Attendance Interventions: Meeting with students/families to address chronic absenteeism.
• Re-entry Meetings: After hospitalization, suspension, or significant absence.
• Teacher/Staff Consultation: Supporting classroom strategies for behavior, attention, or SEL needs.Care Coordination: Referrals and linkage to community-based services (mental health, social services).
• Case Management: Following up on whether a student accessed services, checking in on progress, documenting outcomes.
• Parent Engagement & Education: Workshops on child development, stress management, positive behavior supports.

No. Students can continue receiving school-based wellness and mental health support at no cost even if you choose not to provide insurance information.

To opt out: Parents/guardians may withdraw consent by submitting a typed or written request by emailing CYBHI@guajome.net or visiting the Guajome Schools front office during normal business hours to complete the opt out form.

Your child’s services will not be affected by your decision to opt out. Opting out means only that insurance will not be billed, and no records will be shared for billing purposes.
