Enrollment & Lottery FAQs

Guajome Park Academy is a public charter school; therefore, we do not charge tuition.

Only the parent/legal guardians or person with a current caregivers affidavit of/for a student is permitted to submit an application for their student.

Charter schools do not have attendance boundaries and are open to all California students in grades K-12 who wish to apply.

Parents/Guardians must submit a application each year when the lottery window is open.

The Lottery Window is 9:00 am September 15, 2025 - March 25, 2026 at 12:00 pm

Applications turned in after 12:00 pm on March 25, 2026 will not be included in the lottery. Applications will be added to the wait list in the order they are received.

California Educational Code states that to be admitted to kindergarten, a child must reach the age of five (5) on or before September 1.

Guajome Park Academy does not currently provide a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program.

Guajome Park Academy does not collect any documents with the application. Parents/Guardians will just need to submit the online application. 

Priority is assigned in the following order:

1. Students of GPA and VUSD employees
2. Siblings of students admitted to or attending GPA
3. Siblings or children of alumni of GPA and Guajome Learning Centers
4. Students admitted to or attending Guajome Learning Centers 
5. Students residing within the attendance boundaries of Vista Unified School District
6. All other interested students

No. All applications received during the application window will result in the same chance for admission for a student whether they are received at the beginning of the application window or at the end of the application window.  

At the end of the lottery process, parents/guardians will be notified of their student’s offer of admission or if their student has been placed on the waiting list. Information will be sent in a text message or email (depending on the applicant's chosen communication preference) from School Mint. 

After the lottery, parents must fully complete the registration process withing the designated time frame to secure their student's enrollment at Guajome. Failure to complete the registration process in the time allotted will result in forfeiture of their student's enrollment.

Required Documents (PDF or photo will be accepted)

• Parent/Legal Guardian ID
• Proof of Age: Certified Birth Certificate, Passport, or Baptism Certificate
• Two (2) Current Proofs of Residency (dated within the last 30 days, PO Boxes not accepted):
  • Current utility service bill (SDG&E, Vista Irrigation District, Vista EDCO, City of Oceanside) - Entire main page of current bill; SDG&E, Vista Irrigation District, EDCO or City of Oceanside website
  • Current Cable bill
  • Entire first page of current bill or copy of bill from company website
  • Current Lease/Rental Property Agreement
  • Current lease/rental agreement with management/landlord information and signature
  • Property Tax payment receipts
  • Final Escrow Closing Statement
  • Current Mortgage Bill
  • Correspondence from a government agency
  • Acceptable Documents
• Student's Transcripts: Ask your current school for a recent Progress Report (grades 1-6), a complete Transcript (grades 7-12).
• Attendance Records and Disciplinary Records: Ask your current school for a copy. (Not required for Kindergarten)
• Immunization Records:
  • The patient's yellow immunization card OR a PDF from the patient portal showing dates with a physician/clinic stamp or info, patient name, and birthdate.
  • All incoming 7th - 12th graders must provide proof of the Tdap (whooping Cough) immunization. K-12th Requirements
• Individual Education Plan (“IEP”) - If a student is currently enrolled in a Special Education program, please provide a copy of the current IEP AND Psychological–Educational Report.  Our team of teachers will be scheduling a transitional meeting with you.

• 504 Plan – If a student is currently on a 504 plan, please provide the most updated copy.

If your student is not selected through the lottery, their name will remain on the wait list for that school year only. If a space becomes available, you will be contacted via phone call and email. 

Applications do not stay on file. Parents must re-apply for the following school year. Guajome begins accepting applications on September 1 for the following school year. 

Once a student is enrolled at Guajome Park Academy, their position in the school is secure, and they do not have to re-apply for a position the following year. Parents/Guardians must complete the Annual Registration for returning students to secure their student's spot each year.

No. As a public charter school, families do not need an interdistrict transfer agreement to enroll at Guajome Park Academy. 

To report a change in address, contact information or emergency contacts for your student's record, please call the Registrar's office at 760-631-8500 ext. 2014 to submit your change request.
