Health Office Update

March 22, 2022

Recently, the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) has updated the COVID-19 Decision Tree for K-12 Schools.  Based on this guidance, please read the following Guajome If/Then COVID-19 Protocol:

Parents: If/When COVID protocol

IF your student is exhibiting any one of the COVID symptoms, but they have been diagnosed positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days;
THEN they are exempt from quarantine.

IF your student is exhibiting one or more of the COVID-19 symptoms;
THEN it is recommended that you test them within 48 hours of symptom onset with either an antigen (rapid home-test) or PCR (testing site - lab test).

  • If using an Antigen (rapid home-test kit,) you will need to test them again, the following day.  If both test results were negative, your student may return to school as long as they have not had a fever in the 24 hours prior to return and their symptoms are improving.  Please send your students final result to the health Office at malerki@guajome.net for clearance before returning.
  • If using a PCR (testing site – lab test) you will NOT need to test them again the next day.  They may return to school as long as they have not had a fever in the 24 hours prior to return and their symptoms are improving. Please send your student’s negative PCR results to the health office at malerki@guajome.net for clearance before returning.

IF your student’s test result is positive;
THEN you will need to submit the results to the Health Office and we will contact you with attendance guidance according to your student’s particular circumstances.

IF your student is exhibiting any one of the COVID-19 symptoms, however, has a verified medical diagnosis of another illness that accounts for the symptoms;
THEN it will not be necessary for them to test – you may email our health office the doctor's note explaining the reason for the symptoms for clearance before returning and then your student may return to school when feeling well enough to do so.

IF your student is considered a close-contact to a COVID-19 positive person who lives in the same household;
THEN please call the Health Office for attendance guidance according to your student’s particular circumstances.

Possible COVID-19 Symptoms
Fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and/or diarrhea.

Please remember that if your student is showing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 please keep them home, report their absence to the Attendance hotline 760-631-8505, and also contact our Health Office so that we may provide you guidance as to when they may return to campus.
