No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship.
Our focus is on the development of the whole child as an inquirer both in school and in the larger world around them.
The Guajome Park Primary Academy (GPPA) K-5 Elementary School Program includes curriculum based on the California Content Standards in social studies, science, art and physical education and the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and mathematics which address the academic expectations for California elementary school students; and also provides a rich and rigorous global exposure including but not limited to: language and cultural awareness, art and music.
Interdisciplinary units are taught throughout the subject areas (languages, social studies, mathematics, science and technology, the arts, and personal, social, and physical education). Thematic, inquiry based units of instruction, focus on structured questioning methods that promote higher-level questioning and international mindedness that encourage and enhance the child's natural curiosity.
Additionally, technology grade level benchmarks are integrated into the curriculum and teaching practice, exposing students to 21st century instructional tools and learning outcomes.
GPPA believes through education, it is important to look at the whole child. In addition to designing learning activities that engage and challenge our scholars based on academic standards, GPPA believes that teaching social, emotional, and cooperative learning skills will further their curiosity and independence as learners. Scholars will be given ample opportunities to make mistakes and be guided towards the understanding that mistakes are learning moments. Exposing scholars to a variety of disciplines will help them determine their strengths and interests as well as provide them the opportunity to create goals and understand the power of “yet”.
If I were to sum it up in one word, the thing that makes Guajome special it is RELATIONSHIPS. The personal connections that are made between students, and students and staff, create a family culture that is nurturing and supportive. This culture helps the students to thrive and work toward fulfilling their potential.

GPPA is a close knit community that has a common goal of supporting and engaging our students in constant learning.
C. Moore, Teacher
I chose to send my daughter to GPPA because teachers are willing to look at the child rather than the child's differences. The class sizes are smaller and the teachers are able to be more flexible in their approach. I especially love the fact that the children are able to get to know their future teacher right away and are much more comfortable when it comes time to transition from one year to the next.
