Developing Leaders and Lifelong Learners

Guajome offers a future-ready high school experience, building critically-thinking, inquiring mindsets; preparing students for success in a rapidly changing world.

Guajome Park Academy (GPA) is designed to meet the needs of a variety of learners, and structured to provide every student the opportunity to enroll in a four-year university upon graduation. Academics align with standards-based, common core curriculum that also includes International Baccalaureate Programmes, Advanced Placement coursework, and a college-preparatory program.

Our Philosophy

As an IB World School, Guajome embraces the IB philosophy: A commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students. Guajome's high school program challenges students as individuals and as leaders. With a mission to inspire and empower, Guajome students will graduate a different person than when they entered high school. Whether it’s the collaborative experience in the classroom, the connections made in various clubs and athletics, or the opportunity to stand up in front of their peers and speak or perform, Guajome transforms students into curious life-long learners and productive, responsible global citizens encouraged to take risks, learn from failure, and meet the goals they set.

Academics

Guajome Park Academy is designed to meet a variety of students' educational and social-emotional needs, with curriculum that provides choice, personal achievement and is challenging for students.

Guajome's Schoolwide Learning Outcomes are in integral part of academics and school culture.

In all levels of education at Guajome, the goal of instruction is to promote student mastery of these schoolwide learning outcomes. They are incorporated into instruction in all subjects and are integral to schoolwide assessments on an ongoing basis. Guajome students learn to approach the world as...

Student Life

Extracurricular and co-curricular activities are an important part of a student's high school experience; memories will be made that will last a lifetime. Students who participate in extracurricular activities will likely see an improvement in their academic and life skills, including discipline, goal-setting, teamwork, accountability, and responsibility. They will also find themselves better prepared for post-secondary education. Ultimately, students may even discover that the lessons they learn outside the classroom, in athletics or clubs, help them cope with future challenges in their careers. We strongly encourage every student at Guajome to take advantage of the activities that are offered. We are committed to providing a wide variety of activities as an extension of the classroom. We are confident that each and every student will be able to find at least one activity that they are interested in, and students are supported in creating new clubs around their interests.

Palacios

What I love about Guajome is the teachers and counselors and how involved they are in students' futures. Our school is different from the others because of how much more focused academically we are. Experiences at this school have prepared me for the future because Guajome offers classes like financial algebra and has counselors that are well informed so they can help us with our future.

Guajome was my family for seven years. I grew up with the teachers and the faculty, that cared about their students. Everyone pushed me to be better & supported me to go beyond what I thought I could one day achieve. I went to a four year university straight out of high school and Guajome helped me the entire way. They care so much for their students & their success in life. I am now a reporter for FOX5 San Diego & I wouldn’t have been able to do that without the dedication from teachers, coaches & faculty showed me when I was at GPA.

Guajome was my second home, I made friends who are now like family. The teachers I had when I attended Guajome took extra time to make sure I had everything I needed to be successful during my their. Attending Guajome was one of the best experience I’ve had in my life.

Middle School and High School can be a rough time for many people, but I truly loved my experience at Guajome. I made lifelong friends and had teachers that inspired me to pursue my dreams.

Molloy

The reason our family chose to attend Guajome is for its rigorous IB program. The approach to teaching is unlike anything we had seen in traditional schools. We appreciate the small class sizes, attention to the Arts, and growing athletic program. But, what makes Guajome special is its diversity and its culture. Teachers and staff go above and beyond the call of duty. They have a genuine interest in the children's academic, social, and even emotional well-being. Thank you Guajome for giving my family a home away from home.

Kojok

Guajome is special because it has a small school environment where everyone feels a part of the extremely safe and friendly community. Each student is able to grow a bond with the teachers and faculty who constantly surround them and support them with the unified goal of success for every  student.

If I were to sum it up in one word, the thing that makes Guajome special it is RELATIONSHIPS. The personal connections that are made between students, and students and staff, create a family culture that is nurturing and supportive. This culture helps the students to thrive and work toward fulfilling their potential.

GPPA is a close knit community that has a common goal of supporting and engaging our students in constant learning.

Hutchins

I chose to send my daughter to GPPA because teachers are willing to look at the child rather than the child's differences. The class sizes are smaller and the teachers are able to be more flexible in their approach. I especially love the fact that the children are able to get to know their future teacher right away and are much more comfortable when it comes time to transition from one year to the next.
